| Everyone with good taste knows that motorcycles
are works of art; however, hanging one on the wall is just
a bit impractical. That's why there is Segal Fine Art.
Segal Fine Art of Louisville, Colorado, has been in the
art publishing business since 1984, and initially it never
occurred to founder and CEO, Ron Segal, that motorcycle art
was a growing trend; that is until a Scott Jacobs painting
drew Harley-Davidson's attention at a New York art show.
Now, Ron Segal has seized the day and his main business is
Harley-Davidson licensed artwork. For the artwork, Harley-Davidson
itself approves all the imagery and the bike must maintain
its integrity as well. This commitment to the highest standards
ensures that the art created and sold at Segal Fine Art is
certainly special.
While we were there, we also had the chance to talk to some
of the artists who make these bikes and their riders come
to life on canvas. Scott Jacobs told us that when producing
one of these images, "passion domes into play." He went on
to explain that it isn't just the bike itself that comes
to life on the canvas, but also, "Knowing the lifestyle and
culture makes the art believable." Scott continues to chronicle
the history of Harley-Davidson on canvas with his nostalgic
images and recently completed "100 Great Years" in celebration
of Harley-Davidson's centennial.
David Uhl, another artist with Segal Fine Art, has also
created two paintings for the Harley -Davidson centennial: "A
Model Champion," and "The Enthusiast." For his inspiration,
David searches the Harley-Davidson archives for photos that
convey the images that inspire his work.
Finally, Ron Segal summed up the art that is created by
saying, "We're a family, primarily with Harley-Davidson." So,
listen up! What has dominated garages is now creeping into
living rooms. If you would like more information on Segal
Fine Art, give them a look on the web at www.motorcycleart.com.
