Recently, Brian and the crew from Corbin's Ride On had the chance to visit with Rick and his family concerning the business and just what it means to the Dallas area.
Concerning his lifelong affair with bikes, Rick told Brian, "I started loving bikes when I was nine years old. Later, I always had a dream to make a living with motorcycles." Finally, the inspiration took hold and after attending a major rally, Rick decided to pursue his dream full throttle, and with that, Strokers Dallas was born. The shop offers a full line of custom bikes and an outstanding service department. But wait, this just isn't a motorcycle shop-Strokers is one of the coolest places on the planet to hang! Each weekend is like a mini-bike rally in itself and the crowd has a great time! One reason for the crowds and all the fun is that there is a pretty good waterin' hole next door-Strokers Ice House Bar and Grill! Also known as "Rick's Beer Joint," Rick told Brian that it had always been another dream to own a bar, so now he has the ultimate business and the opportunity for some great times! Strokers Ice House Bar and Grill features fantastic special events such as the Spring Fling and Bikini Party! This event features a poker run and the Miss Strokers Dallas Bikini Contest! There is live music, door prizes, and celebrity guests! The Spring Fling draws somewhere between 4,000 and 5,000 folks and you can bet that everyone has a large time. Besides that, they serve some of the best burgers in Dallas !
Rick's philosophy seems to be simple and effective: "If you get up early and work hard all day, good things will happen." Obviously, this strategy has paid off for Rick Fairless and his family-and speaking of family, another cool thing about Strokers is that it is family owned and operated! As Rick writes on the company web site, "We just want to say we are not your typical shop. Steve, Chesley, Lena , and I own the place and we're here every day-all day long, 8 days a week.
