| Last April 29 th through May 2 nd , Brian Jackson and the crew from Corbin's Ride On had the opportunity to attend the River City Bike Fest in San Antonio , Texas . Held at the Poteet Fairgrounds, this event featured 100 acres of camping, a host of vendors, poker runs, stunts, beauty contests, and live music on two stages! While he was there, Brian spoke with Event Coordinator, Sylvia Fernandez, who told him that the rally was now held at the fairgrounds because it had outgrown its previous location downtown. She also added that there were several perks to holding the four-day event here such as the abundance of space and the camping facilities. Sylvia went on to add that a great part about having a rally in the Texas is the diversity of riding! The hill country of North Texas offers an abundance of "twisties" while the flatlands provide the ultimate cruise!
Brian also spoke with many of the rally's participants who expressed their sentiments about the rally and just about everyone agreed that it was a great opportunity to meet new friends and get together with fellow enthusiasts that they had known for a while! All also said that the facilities were great and that the food and entertainment was outstanding! Music was furnished by national acts such as April Wine, Riot, and Pat Travers! There were stunt-riding demonstrations and rallyists could also rub elbows with custom motorcycle legend Indian Larry who was also on hand for the fun. With all this food, entertainment, and fun, there was simply no reason to leave; in fact, Sylvia also mentioned that another advantage of having the event at the fairgrounds was that the event was virtually "self-contained" with participants being able to get just about anything on-site that they desired. But enough about all that type of fun, let's talk about the real reason that everyone was here: bikes! Brian first found Dave Sem's and his custom ride that came in a box! That's right, this rad ride was a kit bike that Dave and his buddy put together. Purchased from Big Bear's in California , this bike was simply stunning and you could tell that Dave was really proud! Next, there was hardly anything stock on Randy Greenhill's Harley-Davidson Fat Boy, right down to the chrome skull air breather. This bike was a virtual catalog of custom parts and accessories featuring products from Arlen Ness and Corbin, and the great thing was that it was no trailer queen! Randy has put 11,000 miles on his bike and we get the feeling that he will put many more on it as well!
In a final wrap-up, promoter Sylvia Fernandez said she expects the rally to just grow bigger and better every year, and after seeing the turnout for this year's show, we believe her! That's it from San Antonio , so until our next ride, "Keep the shiny side up and Ride On!"
