| Today, it’s time for Part III of the J&P Metric Makeover where J&P owner John Parham, has given his ace mechanics Nik and Jeff an entire 48 hours to transform a stock Yamaha Road Star into a Metric Custom that will adorn the cover of the J&P Metric Catalog! And, with the help of John Vaughan-Chaldy of Baron’s, these guys are doing some serious wrenching to get the job done on time!
Today’s first installation was a set of Baron’s Road Star Rear Rotor Covers. These chrome beauties bolt on in flash, and you won’t believe how they will improve the looks of your bike! Next, Baron’s Fork Cone and Axle Nut Cover add a custom look to the front end making the forks look sleek and longer. After that was finished, the boys installed a great accessory—Baron’s Ultimate Light Bar Kit. This part bolts directly to the stock turn signal mount and features driving lights, turn signals, and a high-intensity passing light. While John and Nik put the finishing touches on the Light Bar, Jeff was installing a set of Vance & Hines Longshots exhaust pipes. Fitted with “Hot Tips” at the end of the pipes, these pipes will improve performance while giving the bike a fully customized look. The next piece of business was Adjure’s 7inch Headlight bucket and headlight, and after that was fitted, the boys attached a sleek pair of Kuryakyn’s Magnum Mirror Adapters with chrome stems and matching mirrors. The amazing thing is that most of these parts simply bolt on in seconds and as John Parham says, “Every year, more and more companies are making custom and aftermarket parts for metric bikes—now you can personalize your own!”
We are rapidly approaching the deadline, and as Jeff and Nik are finishing up on these installations, John brought in the tank and fenders that feature a great custom paint job with J&P graphics! Wait until John sees this! And speaking of waiting, you’re going to have to wait just a bit longer to see it as well. So stay tuned until we come back for the final episode of the J&P Metric Makeover. By the way, you can follow the progress of this project on J&P Cycles website at www.jpcycles.com.
