Wesley Snipes - Written by Keith Fudge

Simple question: What is "badder" than a vampire hunter?
Easy answer: A vampire hunter on a rad and custom Ducati!

On this segment of Corbin’s Ride On, we’ll listen to Wesley Snipes who tells us about the filming of Blade II. A high action thriller in which he is on the trail of a “super-vampire.” Full of terrific stunts, great acting, and some super-riding, this is one film that definitely commands a biker’s attention.

The scene for this get-together was the legendary annual Bike Week in Daytona, Florida, and there was entertainment and promotions galore to surround Wesley’s arrival on his “vampire chasin’ machine.” Plenty of Blade II t-shirts were given away to those who were in attendance, and the host of Hemming’s My Classic Car, Dennis Gage, was on hand to entertain the crowd. And by the way, don’t worry about Wesley not being able to catch this super-villain in the movie because his task is made easier by tracking him on a Ducati ST2!

This limited edition Ducati was designed by Blade II conceptual artist TyRuben Ellington and features Ducati’s 944cc liquid-cooled, electronic-fuel-injected Desmodromic L-twin 6-speed that puts 83 high-revving horses at the back tire with 24 degrees of rake in front. It’s sleek, agile, cool, and powerful—just like Blade himself!

In talking with Wesley, we learned that he is a bike man himself, and is also no stranger to the world of Ducati motorcycles. Wesley said that he owns a 929, and as we listened it was also apparent that he enjoyed blazin’ a trail because he said that he also owns a Kawasaki 1100! We also learned from Wesley that his next picture would involve some great bikes and probably some fantastic riding as well. With a working title of The Ride is Rough, Wesley said that the film is a loosely-based remake of the 1970s film, The Warriors. In The Warriors, a street gang gets caught on enemy turf after the gang curfew and the members seek to make it to their own turf without getting killed by rival street gangs in the process. In this adaptation, Wesley told us that instead of street gangs, there would be gangs on bikes who would try and prevent one gang from returning home safely. From our impression, there would be everything from cruisers, to superbikes, to even four-wheelers! In any case, we can’t wait for the film and to see Wesley in action!
