Since 1987, the name of Muzzys has been
synonymous with motorcycle performance. Located in Bend, Oregon,
Muzzys Performance Products has almost everything imaginable
to enhance the performance of your cruiser, dirt bike, racing
bike, or ATV. Recently, Corbin’s Ride On host Brian
Jackson had a chance to tour Muzzy’s, factory, and to
speak to company founder and owner, Rob Muzzy. Rob told us
about Muzzys accessories, how they are produced, and gave
us a little bit about the company’s history and achievements
in the motorcycle performance industry. Rob said that although
the company is known for its high performance exhaust systems,
there are plenty more accessories such as big bore kits, cams,
pistons, and even crate motors! Muzzys also carries products
from other vendors as well such as speed limiters, and they
offer a variety of their own apparel and promotional gear
as well.
Concerning their exhaust systems, Rob told us that they
are available in a variety of materials and finishes such
as chrome, stainless steel, and even titanium. In fact, in
1990, Muzzys was the first company to manufacture a production
level titanium exhaust system, and by producing it at a large
volume they were able to reduce the standard industry price
from approximately $2,500 down to $600-$700. That’s
quite a savings that is passed on to each customer! All manufacturing
and polishing is done for Muzzys exhaust systems is completed
at their site, and as Rob told us the quality of their efforts
is what sets Muzzys apart from the competition. In fact, he
also pointed out that a great advantage in the use of stainless
steel is because of its corrosion resistant nature and that
it is so easy to clean!
Currently, Muzzys offers a good selection of ATV pipes, two-into-one
cruiser pipes that enhance mid-range performance, and dirt
bike pipes available in a variety of finishes.
While we were there, we also got a tour of the prototype
department where all the dyno tests are performed, and we
were even fortunate enough to have a “sneak-peek”
at Muzzys NHRA Pro Stock bike that will run a ZX12 liquid-cooled
engine--the first time this type of engine has been run in
this competition. Trust us, we can’t wait to see the
results!
Finally, Rob told us a bit about the future for Muzzys by
saying that they would continue to expand their market in
the performance field for ATV, Off-Road, and cruiser markets.
As it says on their website, Muzzys goal is “to share
with the consumer those high quality products that we develop
and use in our championship racing efforts.” We have
no doubt consumers everywhere will be impressed by the quality
and commitment to excellence that Muzzys products bring to
their bikes.
